About the speaker Prof. Çağlayan joined the Department of Molecular Biology and Genetics at Boğaziçi University as a faculty member in 1987. She obtained her PhD degree from the department of Life Sciences at Northwesten University, in Chicago, Illinois, USA in 1982. Her area of research is human genetics more specifically epilepsy genetics in the last 10-15 years and her work focuses on the identification of genes and their pathological variants causing several epilepsy subtypes such as benign familial neonatal/infantile epilepsies (BFNE/BFNE), genetic generalized epilepsies (GGE), and developmental and epileptic encephalopathies (EE). |
